Jump on Over! the Adventures of Brer Rabbit and His Family
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Author: Van Dyke Parks
Average review score:

Undiscovered Treasure
A rollicking retelling of the classic Brer Rabbit stories. In this adaptation of the Joel Chandler Harris stories, children and their lucky parents can watch the wily Brer Rabbit outsmart time and time again his predatory neighbors and prove that brains really are better than brawn. The difficult dialect of the Chandler Harris originals has been updated and simplified for modern readers, and these beautiful volumes (there are three books in the series) are brilliantly illustrated by award-winning artist Barry Moser. This book is a must-have; I can't imagine why it isn't a best-seller.

Jurassic Park/ Operation Genesis: Prima's Official Strategy Guide

Authors: Prima Temp Authors, Temp Authors Prima, and Michael Searle

Joe's C's review of JP:OG
This is a great strategy guide. Most Prima guides for games really [smell.] This one doesn't. It gives specific details about all the dinosaurs. It gives you the lowdown on all the missions. It also gives effective parkbuilding strategies. Reading this was almost as fun as playing the game. But about the game, that's another story...

Katahdin: A Guide to Baxter State Park and Katahdin
Published in Paperback by North Country Press (September, 1985)
Author: Stephen Clark
Average review score:

Best sIngle guide to hiking in Baxter State Park
This is an excellent hiking guide to Baxter State Park. It includes history and background of the park as well as a comprehensive guide to all the trails and peaks. It also comes with the best pocket map to the park. I only wish Mr. Clark had included a little more commentary and personality (some sneaks in). He is obviously a passionate expert and a little more depth would be welcome even though this is essentially a trail guide.

A Kid's Guide to Exploring LBJ National Historical Park
Published in Paperback by Southwest Parks & Monuments Association (April, 2000)

Johnson and the Texas Hill Country
This colorful booklet deals well with its subject matter. The numerous pictures and interesting layout make it more appealing to children.

This booklet covers the Johnson family in Texas. It also shows pictures of Lyndon Johnson's birthplace, childhood home and the school he attended. The LBJ Ranch is pictured and described.

Ms. Warren gives the history of the Hill Country of Central Texas. The Indians, the early German settlers and the cattle drives to Kansas are described by the author.

The future President experienced life in various forms as a child. He listened to his grandfather tell stories of rugged 19th century Texas. Johnson listened to his father talk politics. And his mother would read poetry to him.

For fun he played baseball. For income he shined shoes.

This booklet provides a nice survey of the Texas Hill Country and LBJ's place in it.

My six month old LOVES this book. Since there aren't any words, just bright, colorful illustrations, the story changes every time I "read" it to him. He loves to hold this soft squishy book and I feel comfortable letting him, knowing he won't hurt himself on any sharp corners!
